"Lit a candle in memory of Elizabeth Neumann"
Elizabeth Neumann was born November 12, 1921, the daughter of Frank Peruzzi, Sr. and Mary Peruzzi at Wilsonville, Illinois. She passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at her home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-six.
Elizabeth was baptized in Christ April 9, 1922, in Wilsonville, Illinois. She received her education in the Wilsonville schools until the family moved to Denison, Iowa, in the summer of 1938. She then attended Denison High School in her senior year and graduated with the Denison High School Class of 1939. Elizabeth and Walter Neumann were united in marriage March 10, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, where she was still a member. The couple made their home in Denison and were blessed with the birth of three sons. From 1938 until 1986, Elizabeth was employed at the Denison Candy Kitchen, which was owned by her brother Frank Peruzzi and brother-in-law Albert Bartholomew.
She was a den mother for Cub Scouts in the 1950's and was involved with fund raising for Little League in the 50's and 60's. She enjoyed watching her sons participate in sports in Denison and she loved her dogs and going for walks with Skipper and then Lady. Traveling brought her great pleasure, especially going to Hawaii with her husband and son, Tom and his wife, Carol and going to Europe with her sons, John and Dick, as well as traveling to national parks from California to Maine. In her leisure time, she enjoyed fishing with her family in Canada, cooking, sewing – especially making quilts and bed covers, watching movies, roller skating, playing cards, gardening, canning and taking care of roses.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brother, Frank; and two sisters, Virginia and her husband, Albert, and Mary and her husband, Jack. Survivors include: three sons, Tom and his wife, Carol; John and his friend, Cherry and daughter Taya; and Dick; four grandchildren, Amanda, Robert, Amie and David; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

"My parents and I were next door neighbors in the 1960's. As a teenager I remember Liz was always kind to me and my mom always enjoyed visiting with her. Saying a prayer for her and your family. Cathy(Dougal) Hendriks"
"My thoughts and prayers go out to Liz and her family during these difficult times."
"For 45 years, Liz has been our neighbor and friend---a stable presence one tends to take for granted. So many good memories! The generous package of homemade Candy Kitchen hard candy at Christmas time . . .anise, root beer, spearmint & butterscotch, AND that great coconut brittle! I also remember how excited she was to get her PT Cruiser car. Of course, who can forget her behind the soda fountain counter at the Candy Kitchen? Back in the early 1980's, Liz always made my Monday noon lunch of a tuna salad & cherry Coke. She and Walt were also cheerleaders for our son, Elliott; when he ran cross country they never failed to encourage and compliment him. With Liz's passing, the dynasty of the Candy Kitchen also ends. But she, her brother Frank, sisters Mary Murphy and Vig Bartholomew will always live in our memories! Renee and Butch Miller' (neighbors across the alley)"
"Sending my condolences and prayers to the family!"
