Clifford "Leroy" Dietrich, Jr born January 9, 1941 in Houston Texas, a beloved husband and father entered to rest on January 9, 2021, his 80th birthday.

Leroy served in the US Army stationed at Fort Polk in Louisiana. He continued to serve his country while in the US Army Reserves and later with the Texas State Guards. His long love of amateur radio began during his high school years, so passionate in fact he built a radio tower in his own backyard. He also enjoyed attending "hamfests" conventions for amateur radio operators. Now in the world of ham radio operators, the man who held the call sign K5HMF "becomes a silent key". His devotion to amateur radio led to his life-long engineering career in television and radio, where he became Chief Engineer for different stations along the way.

His preceded in death by his parents, Clifford L. Dietrich, Sr. and Mary C. Dietrich, and Melva Isaacks Fuchs, brother Robert E. Dietrich. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Friendswood, Texas, where his parents were founding members.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Nancy L. Dietrich, whom he met through her late father who was also an amateur radio operator; children Edward F. Preston, Deborah L. Wilson, Thomas R. Preston, Cheryl A. Yarbrough & husband Jim, Karen D. DeLosh & husband Kevin; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
