Paul Arthur Washo
March 21, 1947 - December 31, 2020

Paul Arthur Washo passed away on New Year's Eve 2020. Paul was a loving, kind man whose life revolved around his family. Paul was born March 21, 1947 in Joliet, Illinois to Robert Edward Washo and Esther Elizabeth Hedberg-Washo. He had two younger brothers, David and James, and when Paul was 6 years old, his family moved to Prescott, Arizona. Paul graduated from Prescott High School and attended Arizona State University before accepting a position with the Arizona Department of Transportation. He worked there for over 35 years before his retirement in 2003.

Paul married Mary Beth Bouchard Washo in 1969, and their daughter, Delon Elizabeth Washo-Krupps, was born in 1970. In 1980, Paul transferred to Phoenix, Arizona where he would live out the remainder of his life. He was a soft spoken man, who was always willing to help a friend or co-worker. He was the President of his local branch of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), where he worked tirelessly to improve conditions for workers. He was active in the Girl Scouts when his daughter was a Brownie and Girl Scout. He also worked with the Az. Legislature on behalf of Az. Gifted and Talented.

After Delon married Brett Krupps in 2004, Paul was ecstatic to welcome his two grandsons, Sterling Alan Krupps (2006) and Alexander Paul Krupps (2008). He was retired by then, so he was able to spend a lot of quality time with the boys. In 2010 his daughter started AZ Prussian Snailhound Dog Rescue, where he helped transport and rescue dogs.

In 2019, Paul and Mary Beth sold their home and moved to an in-laws suite that Brett built for them at his and Delon's home. Through the last year and a half of Paul's life, and even through the covid quarantine, Paul was able to spend time with his family and grandsons nearly every day. Groppy, as he was affectionately called by his grandsons, will live in our hearts forever!

In lieu of flowers, Paul would appreciate that those who knew him would pay it forward with kindness to others and contributions to charitable organizations.
