Emery Bailey, Sr.
August 10, 1950 - January 8, 2021

Rev. Emery Bailey, Sr., 70, of Fairmount, died Friday, January 8, 2021, at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana. Emery had been the pastor of the South Marion Freewill Baptist Church for over 32 years. He was a maintenance man for Tulox Plastics for several years, enjoyed tinkering with things, and could fix most anything. His objective in life was to lead people to the Lord, he could play many instruments including the guitar, banjo, and piano. He enjoyed going fishing, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them doing their favorite things, including going out to eat. Emery was born August 10, 1950, at his parent's home in Cumberland, Kentucky to the late Alexander and Minta (Holbrook) Bailey. He married Sharon Caudill on August 26, 1968, in Virginia and she survives.

Also surviving are his children, Sharon Louise Rankin, Fairmount; Phyllis Marie (James) Stewart, Elwood; Emily (David) Mooney, Fairmount; Crystal Bailey, Fairmount; and Emery (Emily) Bailey Jr., Swayzee; grandchildren, Cynthia Hansel, Derrick Rankin, Victoria Sexton, Rachel Hayward, Katelyn Phillips, Stephanie Hayward, Brittany Hayward, Austin Mooney, Leann Mooney, Emma Mooney, Meagan Mooney, Andrew Mooney, Jordan Mooney, Samantha Bailey, Alexander Bailey, Amber Bailey, and Gannon Bailey; great-grandchildren, Cole Hansel, Aurora Hansel, Payton Hansel, Logan Hansel, Ian Rankin, Railynn Stephenson, David Stephenson, Everliegh Hartman, Dean Phillips, Allie Heater, Alexander Heater, Amelia Bowlin, Amiyah Bowlin, and Faith Mooney; siblings, David (Donna) Bailey, Raymond (Sue) Bailey, Elsie "Dute" (Jim) Franks, Wilma (Sam) Leppard, Linda (Cecil) Atkins, and Susie Bailey.

Emery was preceded in death by siblings, Herb, Beverly, and Ola.

Arrangements have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave, Marion, Indiana 46953.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the funeral home, with their friend and Pastor Mark Hummel officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon - 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home on Wednesday.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be to help defray funeral expenses and directed to the funeral home.
