Meredith A. Morehead, 85, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Maquoketa Care Center.
A celebration of her life will be held at 6 P.M. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held 4 to 6 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at a later date at Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.
It will be required to utilize face masks and to observe social distancing guidelines during the visitation and services.
Meredith Ann Garretson was born on June 16, 1935 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Kenneth and Winona (Sutton) Garretson. She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Kenneth Morehead and four children were born to the union, Kenneth, David, Beth and Steve.
Meredith had worked at several places throughout the years most notably Balliu Jewelry Store, Quality Jewelers and Doland Jewelers. She had also worked for many years at Circle M Auctions in Maquoketa.
Meredith had been a member of Community of Christ Church and its Ladies Aid. Her family was her world and she loved spending time with them.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Kenneth (Jan) Morehead of Peoria, AZ, David (Marla) Morehead of Maquoketa, IA, Beth (Leonard) O'Connell of Zwingle, IA, and Steve (Amy) Morehead of Maquoketa, IA; a sister, Wanda (Don) Rockwell of Maquoketa, IA; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Meredith Ann Morehead memorial fund has been established.
