"My heart is heavy saying goodbye to John. From the first day I met John and Patti, I knew how special they were. Instantly I wasn't just their friend, they made me part of their family. We've shared many laughs, many tears, many stories... and a few late nights watching the sun come up while "solving the world's problems." The only thing bigger than John's smile and laugh was his heart. And he made sure that he shared it with everyone. Patti, Jerrad and Chad, I'm truly honored to be a part of your family and to known John."

"Late last summer, John and I sat alone by the campfire by the lake as we have done probably hundreds of times over the last 50 years.  We listened to the sounds of the lake and watched the stars. We laughed and cried and told stories.  John thought a good story was something that truly endured through time.  If it was well received once, imagine how great it became after the 500th telling!  We listened patiently to each other and smiled.  After awhile, we stood up, hugged and said goodnight.  I had no idea that it would also be our goodbye.  Godspeed, John.  You will always be a wonderful friend!"

"John was my best friend as a kid growing up,  the stories we have are at the very least legendary in our neighborhood....maybe we can divulge some this weekend( I'm sure most of the people we injured purely by accident have either forgiven us by now, or are no longer on this earth!). But John was a warrior as an adult.  What he went through would have crushed most of us, I am proud to call him friend and will greatly miss his humor.  He was always trying to make a person laugh, lighten your day a bit.  We need to remember this during this very poignant time.  Let's lift each other up, be there for each other as we share in our memories of his life...it's what he'd want us to do....he would be dang mad if we did otherwise."
