Fr. Bernard Mischke
March 18, 1926 - January 2, 2012

Mischke, OSC, Fr. Bernard Cyril, Crosier Canon Regular. Born March 18, 1926, to Margaret (Theis) and Joseph Mischke in Little Falls, MN. Died January 2nd in Onamia, MN, of complications due to Parkinson's disease. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Maurice and his sister Marie. Fr. Bernard joined the Crosier Order in 1944 with his novitiate in Hastings, NE, under the guidance of his Novice Director (and uncle) Fr. Benno Mischke, OSC. Bernard made his First Profession of Vows as a Crosier on July 4, 1945, and was ordained a Crosier priest on June 1, 1951. Besides his theological studies, Fr. Bernard earned an MA in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1957. Bernard served on the faculty of Crosier Seminary in Onamia and as Pastor of numerous parishes in the Diocese of St. Cloud, MN, and throughout the state. He was the author of publications on the Mass, the Way of the Cross, the Crosiers' Patroness St. Odilia, and Family Prayer. Fr. Bernard is survived by his sister Marjorie (Robert) Schenk of Simi, CA, and his Crosier confreres who treasure the life they shared in community under the shadow of the glorious cross. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 5th, at the Crosier Priory church in Onamia. Office of the Dead at 3:00 PM with Vigil kept until the funeral Mass at 5:00 PM. Dinner will be served following the funeral, with private burial in the Crosier cemetery on Friday morning. Memorials are preferred to the Crosier Fathers and Brothers at Box 500, Onamia, MN, 56359.
