John Bares

A Memorial Serivce will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls with Fr. Nick Landsberger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. John (Jack) Victor Bares was born June 2, 1933 in St. Paul Minnesota. He was the adopted son of John H.(Hans) Bares and Genevieve (Kleber) Bares. He attended school in Brownsville, Texas, St. Mary's Parochial and graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1951. He also attended St. John's University for several years. Jack enlisted in the Army National Guard in October, 1954 and honorably discharged in March, 1959. Jack worked as a salesman in his fathers store, Bares Hardware, then operated it after his fathers death. In 1985, he founded Jack Bares Shooting Sports, specializing in the sale of guns and ammo. He later sold the store, but continued to deal in Remington and Winchester memorabilia until his death. He loved deer and pheasant hunting, fishing, flower gardening, photography and a good cigar. He also had traveled to Poland, Germany, Belgium and many other places of interest. Jack is survived by nephews John Schumer of Utah and William Schumer of Arizona and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna (Mrs. John) Schumer and nephew Thomas Schumer.
