March 26, 1919 - August 19, 2006

Gertrude M. (Litke) Kinzer Gertrude Marie Kinzer, age 87 of Pierz, MN and formerly of Lastrup, MN died peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN surrounded by loving family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 25th, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz with the Rev Gerald Dalseth officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Thursday and Friday from 8-10 A.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Christian Mothers will pray a rosary at 4:30 P.M. Thursday afternoon at the funeral chapel followed by parish prayers at 7:00 P.M. Gertrude Marie (Litke) Kinzer was born March 26, 1919 in Hillman Township, Morrison County, MN to the late Walter and Marcella (Westfall) Litke. She attended school in District 97 through the sixth grade. Her family then moved to Little Falls where she attended and graduated from Little Falls High School. Gertrude was united marriage to Jake N. Kinzer on October 21, 1941 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. The couple lived in Center Valley, MN and later moved to Little Falls where they leased a gas station. Gertrude also worked at Munsingwear in Little Falls. Gertrude and Jake then moved to Lastrup, MN where they owned and operated Kinzer's Store. Jake died in 1968. Gertrude then moved to Pierz, MN where she worked as a housekeeper at St. Mary's Villa (Pierz Villa) for 10 years and 23 years as chaplain assistant. . Gertrude always put others before herself. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting afghans, rugs, pillows, doilies, playing cards and helping other people. Gertrude is survived by sister-in-law, Evelyn Litke, of Pierz, MN; many nieces & nephews, grand nieces & nephews and great-great-nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; parents; sisters, Threasa Gau & Dolores Mitchell; brothers, Lawrence Litke, Matthew Litke and infant brother, James. Casketbearers are Steve Litke, James Boros, Gary Kronbeck, Robert Litke, Gene Litke, Anita Miller & Kevin Gau. Honorary Pallbearers are Betty Fyten, Ceil Loidolt, Mary Langer, Sally Meyer, Pat Zimmerman, Janel Meyer & Elvira Stumpf.
