Wilma L. Whitley, age 89, formerly of rural Quincy, died Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 9:50 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Home in Golden.
Wilma was born January 14, 1931 in Bloomfield IL, the daughter of Carl H. and Ethel M. Bollman Kasparie. She attended Bloomfield School. She married Birney M. Whitley on June 28, 1980 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1999.
She was an accomplished seamstress who loved to make Barbie doll clothes, and crocheting scarves for friends and family. She also made the best birthday cakes. She had a large asparagus patch and actually met her husband selling asparagus to his mother. Wilma and Bernie loved to hunt and fish together. Over the years she became a pretty good shot. She thought the world of her dogs, Boots and Rex.
Survivors include: nieces and nephews, Larry (Linda) Kasparie of Liberty, Nancy Walker of Quincy, Lois (Brad) Dickson of Quincy, Connie (John) Maxwell of Chatham, IL, Ron (Betty) Kasparie of Quincy, Mike (Diane) Kasparie of Maywood, MO, Jim (Michelle) Kasparie of Quincy, Darlene (Randy) Coddingpon Marisoli of Cobb, CA, and Diane Riley of Quincy; as well as some very good neighbors, Donna and LeRoy Goodwin.
In addition to her husband, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Garner and Gerald Kasparie and a sister Neva Siebers.
Services: 11:00 am on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Eden officiating
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00 am on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
