March 1, 1948 - January 5, 2021

Phil Menke, 72, of Algona, died at Mercy One North Iowa in Mason City on January 5, 2021, from complications of Covid-19. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 26th at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Inurment will follow in Riverview Cemetery with military honors conducted. His family will greet friends from 5 to 7 pm Friday at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona and will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Philip Joseph "Phil" Menke was born March 1, 1948, in Swea City, son of Leander J. and Esther (Schiltz) Menke. He graduated from St. John's Catholic High School in Bancroft in 1966. He served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1973. From 1975 to 2015, Phil and his brother, Jerome were partners in a residential construction company and built over one hundred homes.

He is survived by four sons and two grandchildren, Drew Menke and his wife Jennifer of Iowa City and their daughters, Maddie and Emma, Dustin Menke of Colorado Springs, CO, Caleb Menke of Colorado Springs, CO, and Braden Menke and his wife Krystyna of Ankeny. He is also survived by four brothers and two sisters, Maurice Menke of Albuquerque, NM, Rachel Weber of Orland Park, IL, James (Jim) Menke and his spouse Sharon of Cedar Rapids, Jerome Menke and his spouse Rita of Algona, Russell Menke and spouse Linda Harrison of Spokane, WA, and Rita Schroeder and spouse Jim of Richmond, MN; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Leander and Esther Menke; three brothers, Cletus, Carl, and Roger Menke; two sisters-in-law, Judi and Charlene Menke; and brother-in-law, Gerald Weber.
