Jersey Payne
June 6, 2010 - January 4, 2021
Jersey crossed the "Rainbow Bridge" on January 4th, 2021 at the age of 10. She died peacefully with her parents by her side. Jersey was well known and well loved as the "neighborhood black lab", wandering from house to house on a very routine path to visit her neighbor friends and collect treats along the way. She will be missed by not only her family, but also her community.
Though Jersey loved routine, she also loved to go on car rides and for walks with her parents, who adopted her as a rescue when she was 1.5 years old. She worked for 9 years diligently, never taking a sick day until the end, as the guard dog of her property and also spent some time as an office dog in her later years. She loved to be near her parents and family, and was very tolerant of anything and anyone.
Jersey is survived by her parents David and Cindy Payne, and extended family Annette (Tyler) Hoyt and children Ezra and Eliza, cousin black Labrador Arlo, Jonesboro, IN, Lynne Howard and children Brielle and Brodie of Tuscaloosa Alabama, Alex (Molly) Payne and child Grayson of Brooklyn, NY. Dave and Cindy would like to thank their neighbors for always welcoming Jersey and looking out for her, and for their veterinarian Dr. Kelly Whitesell for his compassionate care of Jersey.
