In loving memory of

Cody Poage
March 15, 1988 - January 2, 2021

Cody Donald Poage, 32, of Eagle Grove, Iowa passed away on January 2, 2021. At this time no services are planned, as Cody's family knows he would want something simple. The family plans to have a private burial memorial service in early spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Blank Children's Hospital (Des Moines, IA) in his memory. Cody loved children and would want to help in this capacity. All financials received by the family will be donated in his name as well. Memorials can be sent to Blank Children's Hospital, 1415 Woodland Ave, E-200, Des Moines, IA 50309 or online at https://www.unitypoint.org/desmoines/online-donation.aspx

Cody was born on March 15, 1988, in Britt, IA to Tim Poage and Sandy Robinson (Fett).

Cody grew up in Wesley, Iowa, and graduated from CWL High School in 2006. While growing up he enjoyed spending time with his grandparents and especially enjoyed going fishing with his Grandpa Poage. He loved hunting and learning about gun safety, which continued into his adult life. The family has many fond memories of his pheasant and deer hunting. His sister, Brandi, has many memories of Cody growing up in Wesley. Riding bikes all over town, days spent at the pool, building huge snow forts, and having your typical brother/sister fights. Cody truly enjoyed the simplicity of small-town life throughout his life.

After graduation he moved to Sheldon, Iowa where he attended college for a short time and met and married his former wife, Kirsten (Hansen) Poage. He remained in Sheldon until he moved back to his hometown area in 2015.

He is most known for making people laugh, being a hard worker, a reliable friend, and for being stubborn and unafraid to speak his mind. Friends of his would tell you that all of their memories with him are those of laughter and even getting into a little bit of trouble. His family would tell you that as long as you were willing to accept his rough exterior, he really was a kind soft-hearted man and someone you could always count on.

His path through life was not always easy, but he was tough and kept fighting. For the past five years, Cody spent his life with his fiancé, Sarah (Johnson). Cody and Sarah created a wonderful life together with Sarah's boys, Braedyn and Thomas, who Cody loved like his own. His family and friends are comforted knowing that he was happy with his life and that his final moments were filled with joy and doing what he loved, laughing with Sarah.

Cody's death was very unexpected and he was taken too soon. But we know God had a plan for him and was ready to call him home. He is preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather (Donald Floyd Fett), paternal Grandfather (Donald Arthur Poage), and paternal Grandmother (Sylvia Naomi Poage). Cody is survived by; his Mother Sandy Robinson, his Father and bonus mother Tim and Beth Poage, his sister Brandi Mann and brother-in-law Nick Mann, his maternal Grandmother Elsie Fett, his fiancé Sarah and children Braedyn and Thomas, bonus siblings Dan & Mel Burrs, Duane & Tricia McGregor, and Bruce & Cassie Collins, his best friend Laura Curry, Kirsten Poage, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. Cody is also survived by his nieces/nephews that he loved laughing with and playing with (Jackson, Hayden, Kinzley, Duane, Remi, Avery, Kimber, Julia, Jacob, Joseph, Amelia, Isaiah, and Zachary).

"Please don't cry for me, for I am all the way Gnome..."
