James A. "Jim" Roberts
May 8, 1934 - January 1, 2021

James A. "Jim" Roberts, 86, of Fowlerton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday January 1, 2021, after extended illness. He was at home, surrounded by those he loved.
Jim was born May 8, 1934 to Allen and Juanita (Chenoweth) Roberts in Marion, Indiana. He was the eldest of six children, and was a graduate of Marion High School class of 1952. Shortly after graduating from high school, Jim was on his way to basic training in Texas for the Air Force, in the height of the Korean War. Jim served 21 years in the Air Force before retiring. Following retirement, he worked at the Marion V.A. totaling 41 years of government service. Jim was a family man who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He was also an avid sports fan, especially IU football and basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. He attended Summitville First Christian Church.
He was married to his wife, Patricia, for 49 years and shared nine beautiful children with her. He is survived by his wife Patricia, children: Pete Sherman, Fairmount, Deborah Minch, Edinburgh, Scotland, Andrew (Lesley) Roberts, Edinburgh, Scotland, Paul (Barbara) Sherman, Ocean Shores, Washington, Patrick (Jan) Sherman, San Angelo, Texas, Phil (Michelle) Sherman Converse, Indiana, Debra (Dave) Meek Valparaiso, Florida, and Laurie (Dave) Werner, Fowlerton, Indiana. He is survived by twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters: Mary Ross, Anderson, Indiana and Marcia (Tony) Stewart, Anderson, Indiana, and brother William Roberts, Marion, Indiana, several nieces and nephews, and special family friend Janet StClair, Anderson, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by parents Allen and Juanita (Chenoweth) Roberts, brother David Roberts, sister Donna Phillips, daughter Dawn Selvey, son-in-law Matt Minch, sister-in-law Cindy Roberts, brother-in-law Jim Ross, and numerous cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. Pablo Molina for his wonderful care and compassion, Dave from Lincare of Marion, and Southern Care Hospice Services.

Arrangements have been made entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Visitation will be Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 4-8 PM at the College Park Chapel, 4601 South Western Ave, Marion, Indiana. Services are Friday, January 8, 2021 at 9 AM with Pastors Nathan Lutterman and Tim Overton officiating. Burial will be at Marion National Cemetery. Please wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
