In loving memory of

Grover Wesley Goodsell
September 13, 1921 - November 25, 2017

Our dear old Dad passed away Saturday evening at his home in Logan, Utah. Grover Wesley (Wes) Goodsell was born September 13, 1921 to Maud Thompson Goodsell and Grover William Goodsell. Born in Newton, Utah, it would be his lifetime home with the exception of Logan, where Mom and Dad moved to be closer to "town", after a terrible auto accident a few years ago. Dad had heart trouble for the last few years, and Mom's death last April broke his already failing heart. He missed her dearly as did we all. So on Saturday he left us to join Mom. It was a bitter, but sweet day for all of us.Dad was the oldest of 5 children. Following Dad came Vernal (Leah Mattson), Elaine (Alfred Kofoed), Doral (Rose Marie Anzick), and Venice (Glen Spencer). Beloved Venice is now the only sister still with us, and sweet Rosy the only sister in law.Dad and Mom had 8 children. LeAnn and (Jack Yoder)(both deceased), Linda (Logan), Gary (Newton), Carol (Logan), Mike and Jayne Goodsell (Tremonton), Ken and Jackie Goodsell (Smithfield), Joyce and Scott Hall (Logan) and Lori (North Logan). With 8 children there were marriages and divorces over the years, but no one was ever an ex son-in-law or daughter-in-law to Wes. Once you were a part of his family, you were always in the family. You never lost his love and affection. Another example of his magnificent heart! We all loved and admired our father so much that we are finding it hard to speak of his passing. He was such a kind, loving, dear father to his children, his sons and daughters-in-laws, his grandkids, and their kids, etc. Dad had a heart of gold. He gave a portion of his heart to every member of his family, and to his friends. No wonder it gave out on him!Dad farmed for a while before getting a job on the railroad. He later went to work at Hill Air Force Base. And still later, in his retirement years, he went to work for Gossners in Logan. I think they had to finally lock the doors to keep him out. Hardest worker in Goodsell family History! His body will be laid to rest Saturday December 2nd, in the Newton Cemetery. But never doubt his spirit will find more work to do, as soon as he is done hugging on his dear wife, his loving mom and dad, his brothers and sisters, and his countless friends and family. There will be a visitation Friday Dec 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cache Valley Mortuary, 80 W. 4200 N., Hyde Park, 435-787-8514. Viewing will also be held at the Newton LDS Church prior to services on Saturday, December 2, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. at the Church. Interment will follow in the Newton Cemetery.Bye Dad. See you soon. Please visit www.cvmortuary.com to share your memories of Wes or to express your condolences for the family.

"I wish we were able to attend the services tomorrow, but I don't feel that I am up to it. I have appreciated my acquaintance with Grover who was a second cousin to my dad, Lewis B. Goodsell -- the son of Joe and Olive of Weston. Grover was so attentive to the Goodsell reunions that we held in Logan and Weston. We appreciated his attendance and conversations. He certainly exemplifies the "Good Souls" among our family.Best wishes to all of you and condolences in your loss."
