Scottsdale - William "Rick" Baker, 84, of Scottsdale passed away on December 24, 2020.
Rick was an avid world traveler and outdoors enthusiast for 25 years after early retirement at 53 as a Los Angeles County, California, Fire Engineer Captain. Rick's last trip (2013) was a month in China/ Tibet with his daughter, Dawn. He loved backpacking, motorcycle excursions, skiing, and trying new things.
He was born in Van Nuys, California, to Carl William Baker and Gladys May Luntsford.
He joined the California National Guard and there learned about the exciting heroics of fire and rescue and made it his life profession in the Los Angeles County Fire Department of California for 32 years.
After retirement, Rick lived in Arizona for 29 years, living in Scottsdale, Prescott, Sun City West, and Tucson.
He leaves behind his sister, Bonnie Wilson (CA), three children, Dawn Madden and Craig Baker (CA) and Dana Baker (OR), and three grandchildren, Toby Baker and Kira Baker (CA) and Marina Stern (WA).
