Mike Vasquez, 48 of Malvern, IA, passed away December 24, 2020 in Omaha, NE from injuries sustained in a two-car accident near Malvern. Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Classic Cafe in Malvern. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern is caring for Mike and his family.

Michael Anthony Vasquez, 48 of Malvern, IA, passed away on December 24, 2020 from injuries sustained in a two-car accident near Malvern.

Mike was born on June 14, 1972 in Omaha, Nebraska, one of three children of Francisco V. Aguilara and Sharon Marie Nielsen. He graduated from Bryan High School in Omaha with the Class of 1991. Mike was employed in the landscaping business.

Mike loved football and was a huge Husker fan. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and attending garage sales and auctions. Mike was meticulous in keeping his lawn pristine. His pride and joy were his kids, whom he enjoyed coaching, along with spending time with his family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his dad; daughter Kylee Kros; maternal grandparents, Alberta and Delmar Jepsen; and uncle Ray Jepsen.

Mike is survived by his children, Brittany Dougherty (Derek) of Lincoln, NE, Kolton Vasquez and Kaden Osborn, both of Omaha, and Maddie Lewis, Rilee Vasquez and Emma Vasquez, all of Malvern; one granddaughter (on the way); fiancé Melissa Lewis of Malvern; mother Sharon Nielsen of Woodbine, IA; brother Frank Vasquez of Elkhorn, NE; sister Sherri Vasquez and husband Michael Baker of Woodbine; other relatives; and many friends.
