"So sorry for your loss. I will let my dad know. I remember camping with Donna and Ken. Mom and dad enjoyed their time they spent with them. Hugs and pr. Mitzi Schuster "
Donna Marie Rupp, age 79 passed away December 27, 2020 at the home of her son Kevin and his family in Maquoketa. The time spent with Donna this past week will forever be cherished.
A private family service with Pastor Neil Harrison officiating will be held at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
Donna was born in Galena, IL to Alta Mae and Edwin Durrstein on November 4, 1941. Her father passed away when she was 18 years old. A few years later, her mother married Jim Manley. He was a wonderful step-father to Donna and her younger sister Audrey, who was Donna's best friend.
On January 21, 1961 Donna married Kenneth Rupp at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Galena.
Ken and Donna enjoyed riding their Honda Goldwing motorcycle on vacation to Branson, Pike's Peak in Colorado, Mount Rushmore, and Niagara Falls. Among other destinations, these were a few of the sights they ventured to. They had a passion for camping and spent many weekends from April through October at campgrounds throughout the tri-state area. For many years their grandchildren looked forward to an "entire family campout" every summer.
Donna was very creative and loved to cross stitch, quilt, and make silk flower arrangements and money roses to give as special gifts. She had a large collection of cardinal figurines, bells, carousel horses, state teaspoons, and New England Villages.
Donna and Ken owned Rupp Upholstery, later changing the name to Tri-State Upholstery located on N. Main, Maquoketa. The couple was also custodians at First Lutheran Church for 25 years and took pride in the work they did, especially the lawn care.
Donna is lovingly survived by her husband, Ken, of nearly 60 years. Two Sons, Kevin (Mary) and Dwayne (Cathy), all of Maquoketa. Five grandchildren, Brandi (Jeromy) Howell, Brad (Megan), Trevyn, Trenae, and Trenessa (Joseph) Walker. Six great-grandchildren, Tinsley, Tayden, Teagyn, Hunter, Paisley and MavRick. She is also survived by one sister, Audrey (John) O'Rourke of Arkansas.
With incredible appreciation to Hospice of Jackson County for the care and compassion experienced in just one short week, Donna's family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
