In loving memory of

Lynda Baker
July 29, 1953 - December 23, 2020

Lynda Baker, 67, of Quincy, passed away on December 23, 2020 at Blessing Hospital after a long battle of complications from diabetes.

Lynda was born in Quincy on July 29, 1953 to Paul and Mildred (Gardner) Morgan. She was raised in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

She attended Irving School from Kindergarten through first grade before attending St. James Lutheran School through 8th grade. She then attended Quincy Junior High School and graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1971. She would later marry her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Steve. Lynda graduated from Concordia University (River Forest) in 1974.

Lynda first met Steve when she invited him to go on a hayrack ride during their sophomore year of high school in November of 1968. They were crazy about each other ever since. On November 1, 1975, Lynda and Steve were married at Parkview Church in Quincy, officiated by the late Pastor George Tomko. They first met Pastor Tomko when he was their school bus driver while they attended QHS. A few years later, Pastor Tomko was thrilled when asked to officiate their wedding. Their marriage was a true love story, loving each other more and more as each year passed. They were blessed with a son, Michael, on February 17, 1982.

Lynda briefly taught first grade at St. James Lutheran School and would later be employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Donald Reis. She then worked for Harris Broadcast for over 25 years and retired as Manager of Order Administration. While at Harris, she met her lifetime best friend and travel companion, Deb Huttenburg. They got together often with former Harris Broadcast co-workers and friends, Jackie Humphrey and Carolyn Lauder whom stuck with Lynda to the very end.

Lynda's life was always centered around faith, family, and friends. She loved to travel and vacation which almost always involved traveling with, or going to visit friends and family. She cherished her roles as friend, wife, mom, and grandma. She was so proud to be the mother of Michael Baker, who brought her such joy, along with his wife, Erin. She absolutely adored her two grandsons, Ethan and Evan.

Lynda was a type 1 diabetic for over 50 years, and it took a serious toll on her health. She battled through numerous health problems which she was not expected to survive. She overcame these situations using her strong faith and will to live so she could see her friends and family again. Unfortunately, her diabetic complications over the last several months left her body too weak to make another miraculous comeback.

Her faith really showed during her times of adversity. She would always say, "Don't worry about me because I know where I am going (Heaven)." Lynda certainly taught us how to live, but also how to deal with the end of life with courage, calmness, and love. She will be greatly missed.

Lynda is survived by her husband, Steve, son, Michael (Erin), cherished grandsons, Ethan and Evan, all of Quincy. Her brother John Paul "JP" Morgan (Donna Leezer) of Payson, IL. Mother-in-law, Dorothy Baker, and sister-in-law, Kathy Anastas, of Quincy, and best friend, Deb Huttenburg of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Dakota.

Lynda was preceded in death by an infant son, her parents, Paul and Mildred (Gardner) Morgan, and brother-in-law, Terrance "Terry" Anastas.

The family would like to thank Dr. Adam Reyburn, Courtney Kruthoff (CNP), Dr. Halley Anderson, all the Blessing Healthcare Workers, especially on the Skilled Nursing Unit, for their quality care and compassion. Also, special thanks to the staff and workers at Good Samaritan Home that also cared for and assisted Lynda.

Lynda was cremated per her wishes. Due to COVID restrictions, a private memorial service will be held. You may view the Memorial Service using this link: https://www.tributeslides.com/tributes/show/MPJPF74Y739JBSD3
