Memorials are directed to the family

Donna Leone Boruff, the youngest of thirteen children of the late George and Martha (Atwood) Salmon, was born September 6, 1935 in Perry, IA. Leone planted roots in Iowa, Florida, and Nebraska soil in her lifetime.

A selfless and hardworking mother, Leone saw to raising five children while working full-time. From humble beginnings, she ensured her kids had a clean house and food on the table, serving them before herself.

It was at "The Farm" in Macedonia, IA with her late husband, Dale Boruff (married August 7, 1980), where many memories were made. From buggy rides with their Shetland pony, Shorty, to games of Scategories at the kitchen table, holidays and special occasions were enriched by the distinct flavor of Leone's mouth-watering beef and noodles.

An avid sports fan, you could find Leone in the stands cheering at her grandchildren's events, the racetrack, or watching football or basketball on television. She and Dale enjoyed many road trips and cruising throughout the years. Leone loved the sun on her skin and sand in her toes.

Surrounded by family, Leone entered into eternal rest on December 20, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Lena, Peggy, Mary, Opal, Doris, Alice, Katherine, JoAnn, brothers George, Orville, and William, and son Mike Ransom.

She is survived by sister Martha Ann McDowell, children Susan Sheets (Doug), Wanda Burhenne (Carl), Ronnie Ransom, Vickie Friedrichsen (Jay), step-children Loy Thommen, Dennis Boruff, and Leah Boruff, many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

"Aunt Leone was a very special lady. When we were growing up , she would come and visit, and always had a coin in her hand to share with us, and she really couldn?t afford it herself. She came and lived close to us when I was in High School and again was always there for me and and our family. Her very kind words were soft spoken her guidance was impeccable. Heaven has a very special Angel now and I know she is watching over her whole family. My love and thoughts are with all. Denny & Shirley Salmon"

"Leone was an aunt to my mother, although only a year apart they grew up more like sisters. Their lives spanned between Iowa and Florida, from childhood to now. Where there was one there was the other. My siblings and I were so blessed to call her our aunt. The love from her Florida family is only distanced by miles. We love you all and are praying that you can find comfort during this diffecult time. Please call if you need us. I love you Leone, you will be forever missed but not forgotte9. Love cathy"
