Doris Ellen Matsunami
February 11, 1934 - November 22, 2020

Doris Ellen Weathers was born February 11, 1934 in Anthon, Iowa as the fourth child of Merritt and Hepsy Weathers.
Doris met Manuel Yoshio Matsunami in 1952 and they were married on September 4, 1955. They had six children: Randy, Rick, Renee, Russ, Rhonda and Risé. The family was honored by Omaha Northwest High School (where all six children graduated) in its inaugural Alumni Family Achievement Award in 2012.
Doris attended business school in Omaha and together with Manuel, owned and ran Matsunami Jewelers in Omaha for over 30 years. Doris was the "official" chauffeur for the family to all of the children's sports and extracurricular activities. She also was skilled at knitting and crocheting, gifting family members afghans, scarves and hats for special occasions. Doris served as a Treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #3421 and was also a 50+ year member of Eastern Star.
Manuel passed away on April 6, 2019. Doris is survived by brother Richard (Lois) Weathers, brothers-in-law Marvin Hansen, Juichi (Emiko) Matsunami, sisters-in-law Tomoko Matsunami, Natchi (David) Furakawa, all children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service Monday, December 28, 11:30am, Forrest Lawn Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, family requests masks be worn and social distancing be observed. Family will direct memorials.
