Michael "Mike" Cink
October 24, 1944 - December 10, 2020

Michael John "Mike" Cink was born on October 24, 1944 in Algona, IA, the son of Eugene and Irene (Kirschbaum) Cink.

He grew up in Algona where he attended school, graduating from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1962. Following graduation, he began farming. He semi-retired from farming in 2015 but continued to help until 2019.

On January 23, 1965, Mike was united in marriage to Marilynne Hobscheidt at the St. Benedict Catholic Church in St. Benedict, IA. After their marriage they moved to the family farm east of Algona, where they lived until moving into Algona in 2007.

Family and farming were Mike's passions. He enjoyed designing and building machinery, trailers, dump trucks, and all kinds of equipment for the farm. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching his grandchildren play basketball. He loved collecting old John Deere tractors. He especially loved spending time with his 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mike died Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. He was 76.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Marilynne of Algona, IA; children, Lisa (Mark) Baumann of Whittemore, IA and their children Eric (Kimberly), Jamie, and Emily; Angie (Ron) Bjustrom of Bettendorf, IA and their children Casey (Chase) Milem, Conner (fiance Colleen), Colby, and Clayton (Hannah); Craig (Kris Thul) Cink of Algona, IA and his children Tayler (Spenser) Eischen, Dylan (Jade Simpson), Brennen, and Cassidy; Jeanne (Quinn) Baade of Algona, IA and their children Cameron and Kelly; seven great-grandchildren and an eighth due in June. Brother Jim (Sharon) Cink of Madison Lake, MN; sisters-in-law Janice Cink of Wesley, IA and Anne (Mike) Nelson of Sioux City, IA; brother-in-law Dave (Nancy) Hobscheidt of Keota, IA and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, sisters; Evelyn Ferstl, Helen Gengler, and Phyllis Sheppard, and brother Dennis Cink.

A funeral Mass for Mike will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Algona. Social distancing practices will be followed and masks are required. Each Sunday before church started, Mike and Emily would wave at each other(tho they had never met).
