Robert James Fisher, 83 of Glenwood, IA, passed away December 9, 2020 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA.

Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Glenwood Community Church in Glenwood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Robert James Fisher of Glenwood, IA went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 10 days. He was born on August 31, 1937 at Red Oak, IA hospital to Merritt James Fisher and Helen Shaul Fisher of Hastings, IA.
Bob became and avid hunter in his younger years which became a lifelong passion that he shared with his sons and grandsons. Bob attended school in Strahan, IA, graduating in 1955. He attended Commercial Extension College in Omaha afterwhich he was employed by Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years as an IT supervisor when he retired in 1996.
On August 9, 1958, Bob married Janet Fleming at the United Methodist Church in Emerson, IA. They celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year. In 1960, Bob was drafted into the army. He spent two years at Fort Riley in Junction City, KS. He worked in the finance office of the base. After his military duty, Bob and Jan located in Council Bluffs. Bob resumed his work at Union Pacific and Jan taught school. They eventually moved to Silver City, IA where they lived for 28 years. Three children, Christian, Starr and Sean joined the family. Bob faithfully attended his children's activities all through school and college and did the same for grandchildren as they came along.
Bob and Jan are charter members of Glenwood Community Church where they both work in missions. A trip to Kenya in 2007 was very rewarding. In 2001, Bob began his mission to children locally and on the Rosebud reservation to Lakota children as Santa Claus with his goal being to share Jesus with the children.
Bob leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Jan; three children and their spouses and 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, Chris Fisher, his wife Shelley and Colten, Gage, Cade and Brock; Starr Regan, her husband Mike and Christian, Adrian, Cameron, Reagan and Lincoln and great granddaughter, Charlotte; Sean Fisher, his wife Lora and Alexia and Ridge. He also leaves Jan's sisters, Vivian Perkins of Portage, OH and Ann Hall of Lake Ozark, MO; step-sister, Myrna Bernamen of Mason City, IA; step-brother, Burton and wife Ann of Burchinal, IA and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as friends and neighbors.
