On November 25, 2020, George Pliszka, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor to so many, passed away at the age of 90 in Austin, Texas.

George was born on September 16, 1930 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1952. That same year, he married the love of his life, Mary McCormick.

George spent his entire career with Shell Oil, where he ultimately became the General Manager of the Shell's Chemical and Solvent division. His job with Shell afforded opportunities for George and his family to live and travel all over the United States and the world.

After retiring, George and Mary pursued their love of travel and built their dream home in their beloved city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Wherever life took him, George was extremely proud of his South Milwaukee Polish roots. If you had a few moments, he would love to tell stories of life growing up there, from working at Pliszka's Hardware, to setting up bowling pins and serving up drinks all night at the family tavern, and ultimately, his motivation to break tradition and go to college.

George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary (McCormick); his three children; Steven Pliszka and spouse Alice Narvaez, Diane Pliszka and spouse Don Geller, and Nancy Sirgo and spouse Eric Sirgo; grandchildren; Andrew Pliszka, Matthew and David Geller, Audrey Connett and spouse Clark Connett, and Alex Sirgo; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Walter, his mother Anna, and siblings Florence, Walter and Lucille.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
