In loving memory of

Stephen Ray "Steve" Mask
December 9, 1955 - November 20, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce that Stephen Ray Mask Sr passed away Friday November 20th at West Wing in DeWitt, Iowa. Steve was 64 and succumbed to complications as a result of Covid 19. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Linda Mask, his two children and their spouses Steve Mask and his wife Laurie, Jamie Andersen and her Husband David, and his 6 grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Caleb, Aidan, Tanner, and Jackson.

Steve Mask was a true southern boy raised around Atlanta, Georgia with his 3 brothers George, Jerry and Scott and his one sister Norma Jean by his parents George Edgar Mask Sr and Olive Mae Mask.

Steve grew up to join the Navy as a photographer. A skill he used throughout his life. After leaving the Navy while travelling through Iowa he met the woman of his dreams at the Rose Garden in Maquoketa, Iowa his "Indian Princess," Linda Hickson. They would soon marry at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Otter Creek Iowa on August 26th, 1978 and raised their two children Steve Jr and Jamie throughout Eastern Iowa.

Steve was an adventurous soul who loved to fish, hunt, and smoke a certain recreational substance. He never missed an opportunity to tell jokes at family gatherings. He always went out of his way to make sure people visiting him in Florida were comfortable and had the best time. He loved spending time with his closest Friends Ron and Kelle Clark for whom he and Linda had many great times and memories especially on fourth of July every year.

He was a free spirit who never liked to sit in place for long. He moved from place to place with his family ending up in Florida for nearly 2 decades before ending up back in Iowa for medical reasons.

Steve loved his family both Mask and Hickson. He adored his wife. He cherished his children and Grandchildren by whom he was referred to as Papa (pawpaw) (Not Grandpa). He embraced life and enjoyed the little things impressing everyone who had the chance to meet him. His presence in our lives will be forever missed. However, there will always be joy and happiness when we think back on how he touched our lives.

At Peace Cremation Services have taken place and Burial will be at a later date at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Otter Creek, Iowa.

The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family and online condolences may be left at www.CarsonAndSon.com.
