In loving memory of

George Schultz
August 8, 1930 - November 16, 2020

George William Schultz, 90 was called home to be with God and his Family & Friends in Heaven on Monday, November 16th in Austin, Texas. George, or as he was known as "Dutchie", was born in Hawley, Minnesota to William Martin Schultz and Lena (Luthi) Schultz on August 8, 1930.

George went to high school at Hawley High and graduated in 1949 where he lettered in Football, Baseball, Basketball and Track. He was recruited to play on the Hawley Hawks Semi-Pro baseball team as the youngest player while still in high school. Quite the Athlete! After graduation he attended Concordia Lutheran College in Moorhead, Minnesota until he joined the Air Force in 1951. He married his High School Sweetheart, Betty Lou Housholder on December 31, 1951. They were married 58 wonderful years until God called her home in 2009.

His Air Force career of 26 years allowed him to travel the world. He was accepted into the Presidential Flite at Andrews A.F.B. and spent two tours of duty there. He trained and flew rescue missions at Lajes A.F.B. in the Azores Islands and was part of the Apollo Missions during the early 1970's. One of his last assignments was on the crew for LBJ which brought him to Austin, Texas until LBJ's passing. After his military service he became a Realtor for Nash Phillips-Copus where he was Top Salesperson of the Year selling just over 125 houses in one year. He was an avid Golfer, Bowler and enjoyed Fishing and Hunting, too. George loved to travel with his family and cruising soon became the ultimate vacation. After buying his childhood home, he would spend the Summers back in Hawley, that was where he was the happiest!

George is survived by his two daughters, Karen A. Moreno (Charlie) of Dallas, TX and Kristi L. Schultz of Austin, TX. He had three grandchildren, Candace, Charlie, Jr. (Ashley) and Courtney Moreno, along with two great grandchildren, Fallon and Ruby. He is also survived by his youngest sister, Marlene Krahn (Willis) of Mountain Lake, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Lou Schultz and his sisters, Mildred Stevenson of Las Vegas, NV and Margaret "Tootsie" & (John) Biewer of Hibbing, MN and his brother-in-law, Dick Housholder of Detroit Lakes, MN.

Memorials may be made to St. John/San Juan Lutheran Church at the above address. Our Family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all of you for keeping us in your prayers and showing your love to our Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. God's Love, Kristi, Karen, and Family
