Lois M. Fuglsang, 89, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa.
A graveside service and burial celebrating her life will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Andrew, Iowa Cemetery. There is no public visitation. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Lois Marie Petersen was born on January 28, 1931 in Clinton County, Iowa, to Herbert and Marie (Thielen) Petersen. She was a 1948 graduate of Andrew High School. She married Max M. Fuglsang on January 7, 1949 at Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Melvin, Roger and Julie.
Lois farmed with her husband in the Delmar and Andrew areas and lastly 5 miles west of Bellevue until 1979. Upon his passing on April 4, 1979, she moved to Maquoketa where she worked for Kirsch Window Treatments, and lastly Pacific Coast Feather Company, until retirement.
Lois had been an active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and baking.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Melvin (Pat) Fuglsang of Delmar, IA, Roger Fuglsang of Davenport, IA, and Julie (Daniel) Yarolim of Maquoketa, IA; a sister, Jean Till of Delmar, IA; 2 grandchildren, Melanie (Andrew) Schmidt of Des Moines, IA, and Britt Yarolim of Maquoketa, IA; and 3 great-grandchildren, Raegan, Cole and Rylee Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother Arlo Petersen.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County or Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew.
