Leonard Gross, age 84, of Quincy, died Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 11:41 pm in Blessing Hospital.
Leonard was born November 19, 1935 in Pea Ridge Township, Illinois, the son of Earl and Gertrude Ferrell Gross. He married Carol Bemis on May 6, 1956 in the First Christian Church in Mt. Sterling, Illinois.
After graduating form Brown County High School, Leonard attended Gem City Business College. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserves for six years. He worked for Ferrell Chevrolet in Augusta as a bookkeeper and parts manager, and at the Cadillac dealership in Quincy as a parts manager. Until he retired in 2000, Leonard worked at G.H. Bemis Freight Service in sales and management and then its successor, Sisbro Inc.
Leonard was an active member of Grandview Church, where he served on many boards, taught Sunday School, and did remodeling and restoration work at the church. He was blessed with many talents, including home construction, vehicle repair and restoration, woodworking, and countless projects for family and friends. He also was an active member of the Great River Roads Harley Owners group. Leonard loved being with family and friends - camping, boating, motorcycling, and communing with a regular group at Hardee's.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Carol, and his two children, Stacey Gross of Champaign, IL, and Steven (Sandra) Gross of Ft. Myers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harold and Jerry Gross.
