August 12, 1935 - November 9, 2020

August L. Loftis, 85, of Upland, died Monday, November 9, 2020 in Wesleyan Healthcare, Marion. He was born in Marion on August 12, 1935, the son of the late Edward and Albertine Loftis.
August graduated from Van Buren High School and served in the United States Army from 1956-1958. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He had been employed with Glass Containers, Gas City, and later retired from Dana Corporation, Marion, as a Tool & Die Maker.
Survivors include his children: Debra (Antoine) Young, Greenwood; Terry (Sandy) Loftis, Kansas City, Kansas; Trish Harley, North Salem; and Angie Lacy, Anderson; seven grandchildren: Deanna (Matt) Burton; Tad Herring; Chad Herring; Cheryl Adamson; Ian Lee; Josh Nelson; Derek Loftis; five great grandchildren: Haley Herring; Chloe Adamson; Noah Adamson; Marin Burton; and Evan Burton; two great-great grandchildren: Hayze Adamson; and Violet Conrad; four brothers: Norman Loftis; John Loftis; Ben (Dawn) Loftis; and Mike Loftis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings; and his former wife, Rebecca Loftis.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana. At his request, there will be no services.

"I am so sorry for your loss. Terry I remember you coming to talk to my father about the marine Corp and Debra I remember us when we were younger joking around. It is hard as have now lost both of my parents also. I will remember you in my prayers."
