Hortense (Marty) Esquivel Quintanilla, 71, passed away peacefully under the wonderful care of Orchard Park of Kyle on November 7, 2020.
She was born on March 25, 1949 in Austin, Texas and graduated from Johnston High School. She married Daryl G. Quintanilla in 1970 and had two beautiful children. She began her career at a dental office in East Austin. Then joining AISD having retired after 30 years of service from LBJ High School while making many professional friendships and assisting all her students. She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She also enjoyed jogging, dancing to Country and Tejano music and her margaritas. She enjoyed her world travels to Chile, Canada, Kenya, Argentina, Bolivia, Honduras, Tanzania, South Africa, Botswana, Thailand, Panama, Egypt, Brazil, Japan and England.
Hortense was predeceased by her parents, Ysidro and Hortensia Esquivel, brother Johnny Esquivel. She is survived by her children Vanessa Quintanilla, Carlos Quintanilla (Stephanie) and Daryl Quintanilla (father of her children). Grandchildren: Mathew and Kyle Espinoza, Jacob Alaniz, Samantha, Carmelo, Joel Quintanilla. Great grandchildren: Maurise & Malaya Espinoza and Emelia Quintanilla. Sisters: Lori Draper (Jim), Yolanda Alba (Joe). Brother, Ysidro Esquivel Jr. (Gloria), Uncle Harry T. Esquivel, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and John F. Knifton, longtime loving companion.
Hortense Quintanilla was a free spirit with an infectious smile who was adored by many and will be dearly missed.
