Fairview - F. Maxine Mahr, 96, of Fairview, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at her home in Fairview.
She was born on December 3, 1923, in Fairview, to T. Lester Mahr, and J. Marie (Abbott). They both preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death are two brothers Thomas Mahr, and Lyle Eugene Mahr, three sisters, Audrey Murphy, Dorothy Mahr and Mary Markley.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including her great niece and caregiver Suella Kuenzl, and her travel companion and friend of 62 years, Trudi Maechler.
Maxine graduated from Fairview High School in 1941, she graduated from Browns Business College and also attended Bradley University.
She was the secretary to the owner of Meyer Furnace Company in Peoria and she owned and operated Mahr Accounting and Bookkeeping. She retired at the age of 94.
Maxine was a world traveler up until 2019, she had been to all 50 states and almost every continent. For the past several years she had spent six months out of the year in Switzerland. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.
A graveside service with burial will be held at the Fairview Cemetery at 1pm on Friday, November 6, 2020.
