Bradley Edward Allen
Chili: January 11, 2020. Loving father and doting grandfather, passed away at the age of 70. Brad was born in Brockport to Betty Jane Rolston (Latuske). He graduated from Edison Tech and immediately went to work for Rochester Telephone Corporation for 41 years.
Brads passion for Ham radios was more than a hobby. He spent many happy hours building and working on radios, attending Hamfests all over the country, and communicating as KB2CHY with people all over the world. He was active in RaRa (Rochester Amateur Radio Association), particularly when needed for public service emergencies. Brad also enjoyed music and followed many local bands. His interest in photography allowed him to capture performances to share with the bands, as well as share his photographs at exhibits. His willingness to always help anyone with radio, television, or telephone system problems earned him many long-term friendships. He was also active in CWA Local 1170.
Brad is survived by his loving daughter, Lori (John) Morris and beloved grandsons, Connor & Benjamin; sisters, Patricia (Dennis) Cirilla, Rebecca Winter (Tom Damick), Shirlee Carlberg (Bill Mattle), Roberta (Warren) Jordans, Lori (Brian) Pfeil, Kimberly (Joe) Sanchez, Karin (Robert) Sheinberg, brother Eddie Jones, along with many dear relatives and friends.
Family & friends may call Friday January 17th from 4-7pm, Prayer Service Saturday 9am at Thomas. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, 1615 L Street NW Suite 430, Washington DC 20036 or curemeso.org

"Lori, John, Connor and Ben, My condolences go out to all of you. You were so lucky to have a Dad who was so caring with your boys Lori. Not a lot of men from that generation are so involved with their grandkids. I hope many happy memories will help you through this difficult time. If you ever need anything, please dont be afraid to reach out. xoxo. Emily and Fred Clark"

Tim Barrett K9VB wrote on Jan 17, 2020:

"My sympathies to Brad\'s family at this sad time. Brad did so much for the amateur radio community here in Rochester. From helping to organize the annual Hamfests, running a Sunday evening network to help new hams get on the air, for many years providing the sound systems of the monthly meeting of the Rochester Amateur Radio Association as well as serving on the board and of course organizing the annual Halloween Pumpkin Patrol. There was hardly an aspect of amateur radio where he did not contribute. Thanks, Brad for all that you have done."

Robert Hobday wrote on Jan 17, 2020:

"Brad and I have known each other for what seems like forever as fellow hams. He was also a member of the Antique Wireless Association and a key member of the Annual Conference Committee. Brad provided the A/V equipment for the AWA Annual Conferences for many years. That may seem easy to do, but when he was unable to do the A/V work this year at the Conference, it took three of us to replace him. He always did his work cheerfully and made every speaker comfortable before their presentation. Brad was a generous, giving, hard-working type of person who always said Sure, I will do that. to all requests. I always enjoyed our long talks and I will miss him."

Sabrina & Jay Hamill, WD2stk & KC2TCM wrote on Jan 16, 2020:

"The world is a little dimmer without you here. Your shining smile, your determination and persistence to help wherever possible among all your other admirable traits. Its definitely not going to be the same going to (and participating in) ham radio events and not hearing your voice or seeing you tweaking your PA equipment - so it sounds the best it possibly can. The wealth of knowledge was something to be desired and hopefully some of it rubbed off on to others. Were Glad you can Rest In Peace Brad , but youre surely missed. The commodore legacy will live on thanks to you as well. :) My condolences to the family. He was definitely one of a kind. 73 (and 88) , WD2STk and KC2TCM"

"Brad was one of the first hams I met when I moved to Rochester in 2006. He had a lot of passion for the hobby and gave a lot of his time to various causes and events. He was a great mentor to many and spent countless hours helping others. He will be missed!"

Ev Tupis wrote on Jan 16, 2020:

"One of the truly good people in this world, Brad was one of the most selfless people I knew. He often stepped up to \"make things happen\" to the benefit of all. We would meet for lunch from time-to-time. He would beam about his daughter and grandson. He was proud of them to a degree seldom found these days. Rest in peace, my friend."

"So sorry to hear of Bradleys passing. Health reasons prevent me from attending his service. I was very pleased that I could speak to him on the phone recently. He was a wonderful man. Bradley and I took a trip to Washington DC when my brother Gordon passed away. We enjoyed each others company and were always good friends. Mel Rolston"

"It was my pleasure to work with Brad as a fellow Ham, at hamfests and Pumpkin Patrol. He was generous and helpful, and I will not forget his reminding us \"there is no \'i\' in team\". That always brought us together, as a team. My prayers are with you on this loss."
