Douglas G. Zook, son of Charles W. and Helen M. (Fischer) Zook, was born on October 4, 1956, in
Doug operated a gas station with his father in Perry. He then studied to be and worked as a diesel mechanic in the
Above all, Doug enjoyed his family and friends and never knew a stranger. He was interested in his classic cars, boats, being near the water and bowling. He played the drums and performed in bands through the years.
Doug died from cancer at home in Panora, Iowa, surrounded by family and loved ones early on Saturday morning, September 8, 2007, at the age of 50 years, 11 months, 4 days.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Gordon and Juanita Zook, Carl and Alma Fischer; and his father Charles Zook.
Doug is survived by wife Beth Zook of Panora; children: Christal Zook-Ballou and husband Stephen of Waukee; Corey Zook and girlfriend, Angela Sargeant, of Grimes; Emily Hachmeister of Ames; and Andrew Hachmeister of Coon Rapids; mother, Helen Zook, of Perry; sister, Jacqueline Zook, of Madison, WI; grandchildren Zachary and Samantha Ballou; mother-in-law Evelyn and husband Dick Leedom of Jefferson; father-in-law James Canavan of Coon Rapids; other relatives and many, many friends.
