"We are all blessed in some way by the those that are a part of our lives. Mike had been a part of my life since I was a little kid. Mike, Mike and uncle Donnie used to spend time at our house. May the good Lord fill that empty space with His Love."

"Although I haven't seen Mike for a number of years I've thought about him several times. I worked with Mike at Iowa Workforce Development as a Veteran Representative back in the 1990's. Mike was in school and I was always on the lookout for a Veteran that could work in the office as a work study. Mike took my offer and did a great job for the Veterans coming into IWD. I always enjoyed my visits with him when I was in Carroll. He was proud of his family and enjoyed talking about them. Time moved on and Mike was able to get a full time job with IWD after completing his education. It made me feel good that I had been part of Mike's journey into a new career. My sympathy goes out to his family. Mike did a lot of things well and loved his family, I am sure he will be missed; I know I will miss him too."

He was always mentoring those of us who were needing guidance in our Legion endeavors. You'll never know the number of lives he touched, but we'll never forget our true friend. You're in our prayers.6"
"Cheri and Family, There is a piece written by A. Lawrence Vaincourt entitled "Just A Common soldier" (A Soldier Died Today). This is part of what it says: "He was just a common soldier and his ranks are growing thin, But his presence should remind us we may need his like again. For when countries are in conflict, then we find the soldier's part Is to clean up all the troubles that the politicians start. If we cannot do him honor while he's here to hear the praise, Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days. Perhaps just a simple headline in a paper that would say, Our Country is in mourning, for a soldier died today." May you find comfort and caring in the friendships you have made throughout the years. God Bless and Keep You."
