"Dear Debbie, My dear dear friend. I just read of your passing in the Mankato alumni magazine today. I am so very sad. And happy that we reconnected in recent years. Our wonderful years as roommates at Mankato are some of the happiest memories I have. Remember the cold walks for pizza where we shared the same winter scarf wrapped around both of us? Our semester at Camp Tamerac and work on the White Earth Indian reservation? You were a friend for life. Goodbye friend, Sandy"

"I was completely shocked to read the news of Debs passing.I immediatly thought of her daughter. Your Mom could be a bit hard for some people to take at times. But in all the many years I worked with her I never saw her disingenuous with anyone. She said what she thought and stood up for anyone she felt was being maligned. These are traights hard to come by today. I will miss her humor and all those dang plants we'd have to haul to her house and art room twice each year! Man, did she have alot of plants!!! I was always amazed at the things she had saved in some dark back corner of her room, and the neat things she would get the kids to create with those "bits of junk..." I'm not sure she threw anything away?"
