Patsy Ellen, daughter of Lanaous and Virginia (Zaricor) Childress, was born April 21, 1936 at Humboldt, TN. She graduated from Humboldt High School. She was married to John Hutchens in 1955 and they were the parents of two children. He died in 1960. Then in 1964 she was united in marriage with Roger Gorka, Sr. and they were the parents of two children. Patsy worked as a Nurses Aide at Salem Lutheran Home for 19 years. After her retirement she did a lot of babysitting. Patsy was a member of Elk Horn Lutheran Church. She was an avid collector of dolls, frogs and music boxes. Reading and watching Matlock and Murder She Wrote on television were great enjoyments to her. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Patsy was able to remain in her home as her health issues increased because of the care of her family. She died at home in Elk Horn on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 27 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; daughter Susan Gorka; step daughter Christine Gorka; step grandson Tommy Gorka; brothers Bobby Lee Childress and Larry Childress. She is survived by her children Barbara Frazier (Dale) of Harlan, Alan Hutchens of Round Lake Park, Il; Roger Gorka Jr. of Elk Horn; 10 grandchildren Morgan Hansen, Joseph Hansen, Ford Lillard, Rick Gorka, Alex Gorka, Alan Hutchens, Jr., Kevin Hutchens, Marie Giramonti Jennifer Armstrong and Dacia Gorka; 8 great grandchildren; sister in law Diane Childress; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. For example, God has promised to sustain us if we throw our burdens on Him. (Psm 55:22). Also, I look forward to seeing Patsy in the resurrection (John 5:28,29).
