Janice Farley

Janice Kay, daughter of Clarence Thomas and Florence Angie (Reuwsaat) Farley, was born September 7, 1940 near Manilla, Iowa. She grew up in Walkertown just west of Manilla and attended school in both Manilla and Denison. At the age of nine years, Janice was thrown from a horse and suffered head injuries. She spent time at Woodward School and in 1979 moved to Wesco in Denison. She worked at various jobs, mostly doing cleaning. She enjoyed her job at McDonald's. While in Denison, Janice was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church there. She completed her GED in May of 2003. Over the years, Janice enjoyed embroidery, earning two ribbons at the Crawford County Fair. Going to movies and watching films at home with her housemates were enjoyable past times. She also enjoyed shopping and going for coffee with friends. Her family meant the world to her. When Janice's health began to fail in the fall of 2012 she became a resident of the Denison Care Center in Denison. She died there on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the age of 74 years, 6 months, and 18 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; step father; step brothers Jerold Heeren and Lewis Heeren; step sister Mary Jo (Paul) Willett; and niece Sheryl Thomsen. She is survived by her sister Judy (LaVerne) Thomsen of Denison; half-brother George (Michelle) Heeren Jr. of Arizona; nephews and nieces who she considered her own family: Dale Thomsen and children Josh Thomsen and Sabrina (Chad) Summerfield and their daughter Kyra, Dean (Sheri) Thomsen and their sons Brian Thomsen his son Evan and Joe THomsen, Darla (Lynn) Rickers and their sons Cody and Kyle Rickers, and Megan Heeren and Josh Heeren; other relatives and friends.
