Zakry Thomas Downing, age 35, passed away on March 30, 2019 in Vernal, Utah. Zak was born on September 30, 1983 in Vernal, Utah to Melinda Crane Beath and Randy Downing.
Zak graduated from Uintah High School in 2002 where he played baseball, basketball and golf. He served an LDS Mission to Guadalajara, Mexico from 2003-2005. Zak was a hard worker. He enjoyed playing sports as often as possible. He also enjoyed fishing. He loved to compete with family and friends at all things. Especially for the Tippage Cup, which he won 3 times and he would be sure to let you know.
Zak loved his family and friends. His little Dayton was his light.
Son, brother, father, grandson, friend. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Zak is survived by his son Dayton Z. Downing, parents Randy Downing, Melinda and Mike Beath; brother Justin (Brittini) Downing, sisters: Skye Lee (Dustin) Wiggins, Kristin (Dakota) Bowden; Step brother Ethan (Brinli) Beath, step sister Raydel (Marcel) Bourque; grandparents: Lu Poulton, Lyman Crane, Trudy (Allen) Leininger, Don (Lois) Downing; 3 nieces and 7 nephews, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by grandpa Calvin Poulton, grandma Patricia Crane and two cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 3040 North Vernal Avenue with Bishop Dave Chivers conducting. An open house for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6-8PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
