"I was shocked and saddened to hear of Stan's passing...He was always positive and friendly in my presence. If possible, I suspect he is arranging a quarter flip and a tee time in the heaven reserved for truly nice people !"
It is with great sadness that the family of Stanley J. Gordon, an honorable and gentle man, announces his passing after a yearlong battle with multiple myeloma. He passed away at home in Vernal, Utah, on January 4, 2019, at the age of 70.
Born in American Fork, Utah, on May 14, 1948, Stan grew up in the Olmsted area of Orem near the mouth of Provo Canyon. He graduated from Orem High School and earned his degree from Brigham Young University. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Spanish-American Mission (laboring primarily in California).
He married Nora Rodriguez, and they had four beautiful children; and later divorced.
On August 7, 1987, he married Ellen Hamilton, with whom he shared 31 years before his passing.
After a brief career in the Air Force, he transitioned to a career working for Utah Power and Light. He worked for Deseret Power for 29 years, primarily as plant manager. Stan enjoyed serving the public as a member of the board of the Uintah Transportation Special Service District and vice-chair of the Uintah County Republican Committee. He loved being outside riding his four wheelers and playing with his tractor, which he put to good use plowing the roads and driveways for his neighbors. He also had fun taking trips to Mexico with Ellen.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; his children, Stanley (Kenzie, Wellington, FL), Brian (Kelli, Vernal, UT), Kristie (Cory, Littleton, CO), and Alan (Melanie, Rexburg, ID); stepsons Jason (Adriana, Corona, CA) and Joey Hamilton (Bellingham, WA); 15 of his grandchildren; brother J.D Gordon.; and sister Janice Castillo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Junious Gordon; his mother, Helen Johnson; his sister Bettylou Bean; his brother Richard Gordon; and his grandson Braydon Gordon.
Funeral services will be held Friday 11AM at the Uintah Conference Center (313 East 200 South). A viewing for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 6-8PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 North 800 West) and Friday 9:45-10:45AM at the Uintah Conference Center. Interment will be in the Dryfork Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 11.

You too have been a very good friend. Take care and May God Bless you. Ron Tollefson"
"As a former board member of Deseret Power, I want to express my sympathies to Stan's family. I still have fond memories of Stan reporting to the board each month about plant operations. He was a gentle giant and very humble. I am always impressed by people who are intelligent and humble - it's a combination that you don't see very often. I appreicated his friendship and professionalism. I am currently serving a mission in Moldova and won't be able to attend the funeral, but just wanted the family to know that he stood out as a very good man in this world. His career improved the quality of life for many families as he did his best to "keep the lights on." He was dedicated employee and did a great job for Deseret. I pray the Lord's spirit to comfort you at this tender time.Best Wishes Elder Randall Brown"

"Ellen had a little dog named Lucy. Lucy loved to climb to the top of Stans impeccably maintained vehicle, with no regard to the scratch marks she left behind. I often drove by their house thinking, Lucy youre going to be in so much trouble when Stan gets home! But the truth was I think Stan just quietly sighed and rolled his eyes because he loved Ellen. I suspect he loved Lucy, too. He was a good man."
"Stan was a bit of teaser and always had that mischievous grin on his face that hadn't changed in fifty years! So glad I got to see him at the high school reunion! He shall always be remembered with great warmth and love!"
