On Oct 19, 2020, Spencer K. Danner Sr. went home to glory.
Spencer was born in Omaha, NE, November 21, 1954. He was the third of four children of James Irving and Myrtle Marguerite Danner. He attended Druid Hill Elementary, Horace Mann, and Central High School. After high school, Spencer received an athletic football scholarship to Kansas State University. He later left K State to enlist in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged. Spencer joined Chicago Northwestern Railroad in 1977 where he worked as a pipe fitter. While working for the railroad, Spencer met Linda Brown. From that union, Spencer Jr. and Adrienne (Dotson) Danner were born. In 1987, Spencer was reunited with his high school crush Lori Godbolt, where they remained married until his final days.

He worked at Sunnyslope, Belvedere, Franklin, Central Park, Druid Hill, Buffet, Benson, and the TAC Building where he remained until he retired in 2017. While working for OPS, one of Spencer's proudest accomplishments was following in the Union leadership footsteps of his father James Danner and grandfather, former Senator Edward R. Danner by becoming Union Chief Steward for SEIU Local 226 Chapter.
Spencer was a great athlete and continued to play flag football, basketball, and softball at the Lake. He loved attending every volleyball, football, basketball, softball, and track meet of his children and grandchildren. Nothing made him prouder than seeing their accomplishments and achievements.
Spencer enjoyed playing video games (he had every Madden game) and attending Madden tournaments where he often placed in the top three. He loved golfing, riding his bike, and taking walks with Lori. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Baltimore Orioles, and a Kobe Bryant Laker fanatic. Spencer's travels included going to professional football and basketball games. If you were looking for him, you could most likely find him across the bridge in Council Bluffs at the casinos or traveling to Las Vegas.
