Jutta "Judy" Evans, 63, loving mother, soul mate, Oma, sister, aunt and friend passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Gundersen Health Systems, La Crosse, WI.
Judy was born on June 16, 1957 in Hermaringen, Germany to Gottfried and Ingeborg Stantzsch. Judy grew up in Wetzlar, Germany until she met her soul mate, Steven Evans. The two fell deeply in love and were married on November 22, 1975. They lived in Germany for 2 years together until Steve's service time was up where they returned to the United States. Upon returning to the US, they moved to Winona, MN and then finally settled in Stockton, MN. They had 3 wonderful daughters together, Jessica, Jennifer, and Joni. Years later Steve and Judy divorced and were apart for 20 years, much of which she spent back home in Germany caring for her parents. After Steve's second wife passed away, Judy and Steve rekindled their love and were going to be remarried on November 22nd, 2020.
Judy was very active in her faith, and was a member of the Winona Church of the Nazarene. She made a floral alter piece every week with flowers from her garden. Gardening and being in nature were her passion but her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Judy also volunteered at Birthright of Winona, Girl Scouts, Stockton Area Promotional Group, Stockton Area First Responders and Restored Blessings over the years.
Judy is survived by her soul mate, Steven Evans; children, Jessica (Jason) Palubicki, Jennifer (Justin) Kahn, Joni (Edward) Vorbeck; grandchildren, Dale, Sophi, Graci, Katelyn, Isaac, Conor, Oliver; and their loving cats, Gator and Joker.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gottfried (Joe), Gunter, Siegfried. She is deeply missed by her sister, Dagmar and nephew Kyle and his family; brother, Peter and his family; many nieces and nephews. She is warmly remembered by her church family as well as many, many, many friends.
A private service will take place with a public visitation to follow from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Winona Church of the Nazarene, 469 Orrin St. Winona, MN 55987. Masks are required and please respect social distancing guidelines while attending the visitation.
