May 28, 1947 - October 8, 2020

Linda D. Berte, 73, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:30 PM Monday, October 12, 2020 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and The VFW Post 1856. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Berte of Fort Dodge; children, Tim (Rhonda) Rice of Salem, OR, Tracy (Tessa) Thomas of Omaha, NE, and Michele (Don) Montgomery of Moline, IL; grandchildren, Dairian, Devin, Joey, Dakota, Courtney, and Christina,; siblings, Terry (Bev) Fortney, Steven (Melanie) Fortney, Cherry Casey, and Vicki Hendrickson all of Fort Dodge; 4 brother-in-laws and 3 sister-in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Wanetta (Edmondson) Fortney and a brother-in-law.

Linda Dianne Fortney was born May 28, 1947 in Fort Dodge. She attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1967. She then joined the United States Air Force in August of 1967 and served until her Honorable discharge in August of 1968. On February 26, 1984 she was united in marriage to Joe Berte in Las Vegas. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. In 1985, the couple had their marriage blessed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Linda worked for Kmart for a brief period of time and also cleaned homes. She then worked as a housekeeper at Holiday Inn. She retired from housekeeping at TRMC after working there for 15 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gambling, playing BINGO and scratch tickets, mushroom hunting, crocheting and knitting. She loved going out for coffee with her friends and spending time with her family.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
