Joyce M. Rork, 83, of Otho passed away on October 4, 2020 at her home.
Funeral services will be on Friday October 9th at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Lauferweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Halbach officiating. Burial will follow at Holaday Creek Cemetery, near Coalville. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler funeral home.
Those thankful for having shared in Joyce's life include children, Rhonda (Randy) Hoover of Otho, Michael (Nancy) Rork of Otho, Joyce Halbach of Otho, Patrick Rork of Anchorage, AK, Ronald Rork of Pomeroy, Dawn (Ken) McMahon of Otho, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brothers Kenneth Crouse and Larry Crouse both of Lehigh, sister-in-law Carol Crouse of Fort Dodge, step-sister Gloria Seaver of Calgary, Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Arlene (Welfare) Crouse, husband Roy in 2015, grandson Michael Rork and great grandson Nathan Halbach, step-father Robert Seaver, brothers Donald, Dennis, Robert and Dick Crouse, step-sister Roberta Hart, step-brother Dr. Wesley Seaver.
Joyce Maxine Crouse was born on July 25, 1937 in Fort Dodge. She was raised in Otho and Swea City, she graduated from Otho High School in 1955. In 1957, she graduated from Fort Dodge Junior College with a teaching certificate. In 1969, she graduated from Drake University with Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Her first teaching job was in Ferguson, IA, then Joyce taught from 1958 to 1960 at Evanston Country School, 1961 to 1966 at Badger, 1966 to 1983 at Fort Dodge Junior High. She then was at Fort Dodge Senior High School from 1983 until her retirement in 1994. Joyce was united in marriage to Ronald "Roy" Rork on July 8, 1972 and the couple made their home in Otho. For several years Joyce taught Sunday School. She enjoyed crafting, time at the farm, traveling with her husband Roy and loved to spend time with her family. Joyce was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
