Jennie Frerichs
December 20, 1925 - September 24, 2020

A private family funeral service for Jennie Frerichs of Buffalo Center, will be held Saturday, October 3rd, at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Jonathan Faulkner officiating. Graveside services will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center at 11:00 AM and those graveside services are open to the public.

Jennie (Brass) Frerichs was born December 20, 1925, to Ehme and Jennie (Fischer) Brass northeast of Buffalo Center. As a small child she moved with her parents south of Buffalo Center, where she grew to womanhood. When she was six years old her mother passed away, leaving her father to raise six children. Jennie received her education at Buffalo Center School.

Jennie was married to Nanne Frerichs on January 8, 1947, and to this union five children were born: Nancy, Shirley, Robert, Dale, and Keith. The couple farmed southeast of Buffalo Center until their retirement in 1984. Nan passed away in 1994 and in 1997 the farm was honored for being 100 years old. Jennie remained on the farm until 1996 when she moved into Buffalo Center.

As a young girl she attended church and Sunday School at the First Baptist Church. In June of 1939, at the age of 14 she accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and was baptized and at the Baptist Church. She became a member of the Congregational Church in 1949 and she was very involved. Jennie taught Sunday School, was superintendent for 16 years, and president in Women Fellowship for many years. She worked with Bible School for 16 years and helped many years with Missionary Work Groups. Jennie never missed church unless she was not feeling well, or the weather was not good.

Jennie was a woman who loved her home and was proud of her family looking out for the welfare of each one. She was a loving mother, a good neighbor, and respected in the community. She belonged to the Sunshine Birthday Club. Jennie enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews who would stop in and visit a little. She did a lot of fancy work, making over 75 pillowcases and tablecloths. She loved to bake and when she baked bread you always got a loaf to take home. Jennie also loved her garden and flowers. She always had a smile for everyone and her saying was "God is in control and he has everything in his hands."

Jennie Frerichs died Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Timely Mission Nursing Home at the age of 94. She had been a resident there since June of 2019.

She leaves her children, Nancy Peterson, Robert (Becky) Frerichs, Dale (Bev) Frerichs and Keith (Kristy) Frerichs all of Buffalo Center; a son-in-law, Kevin Stecker of Thompson; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
