A memorial service for Glen was held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Ledyard Community Building. In lieu of flowers and cards, please consider a donation to the Kossuth County Cancer Support Foundation in Algona in Glen's name.
Glen Lauren Thompson was born April 24, 1940, in Lakota, Iowa, the son of Lauren and Goldie (Steele) Thompson. He grew up in Lakota, graduating from Lakota High School in 1958. Following high school, Glen enlisted in the United States Marines. Glen was very proud to serve his country and was honorably discharged in the fall of 1963. He attended California State University in Fullerton, California. Glen worked for the post office, managed a wholesale grocery distribution company, and delivered motorhomes for Winnebago Industries.
Glen enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, collecting recipes and cookbooks, and playing cribbage.
Glen died on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society, Algona, Iowa. He was 80 years old.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Dave) Burger of Salem, OR; son, Curtis (Stefanie Carillo) Thompson of Northridge, CA; siblings, Irene Wempen of Titonka, Ruth Harringa of Buffalo Center, Eldon Thompson of Bancroft, Janice (David) Winter of Lakota, Sharon (Marion) Burt of Ledyard, Roger (Linda) Thompson of Mesa, AZ; and Larry (Rita) Thompson of Lakota; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Everett, Raymond, Howard, and Harold and one sister, Dorothy Vodraska.
