Jim A. Rosenmeyer

A Funeral Mass for Jim Rosenmeyer was held at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Algona. Burial took place at St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted.

Jim "Tiger" Alvin Rosenmeyer was born August 23, 1937, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Agnes (Huschka) Rosenmeyer. Jim attended St. Benedict Catholic Grade School and graduated from Lu Verne High School in 1955. Following graduation, he worked at Bradley's Farm Equipment in Algona, and later worked for John Deere in Algona. He started farming with his brother Ron in 1962. Jim farmed for 40 years and sold DeKalb Seed Corn. Jim served in the Air Force National Guard for nine months, then in the reserves. Jim was united in marriage to Judy Kay Froehlich on August 22, 1962, at the St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Jim filmed several weddings in the St. Benedict, Wesley, and Algona area for several years. His pastime was working on his computers and working on GPS (global positioning system). Jim and Judy built a new home and moved to Algona on August 23, 2003 on Jim's 66th birthday.

Jim enjoyed being with family and always willing to help people. He received the Governor's Volunteer Award on May 8, 1987. The award was Outstanding Volunteer at Bishop Garrigan High School. He was on the Bishop Garrigan Board for several years where he served as President and Vice President.
Jim died Saturday, September 19, 2020, at his home in Algona under the care of Hospice of the Heartland. He was 83.

Jim is survived by his wife, Judy of 58 years of Algona; five children, Richard (Joyce) Rosenmeyer of Wesley, David (Jennifer) Rosenmeyer of Algona, Nancy (Jeff) Lawler of Granger, Troy (Lisa) Rosenmeyer of Granger, and Travis (Molly) Rosenmeyer of Highlands Ranch, CO; 12 grandchildren, Jesie and Jake Rosenmeyer, Reese and Riley Rosenmeyer, Alyssa, Brenna, Caroline, and Corbin Lawler, August and Carter Rosenmeyer, and Will and Emerson Rosenmeyer; his brother, Ronnie (Judy Ann) Rosenmeyer of Wesley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don Froehlich, Bonnie (Tom) Arndorfer, Lee (Kathee) Froehlich, Linda (Don) Besch, Margia (Dave) Zeimet, Tom (Linda) Froehlich, Jim (Jane) Froehlich, Bill (Marj) Froehlich, Robyn (Arnie) Gray, and Jayne (Nick) Krieps; step-sister-in-law, LuAnn (David) Garnjobst; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Agnes Rosenmeyer,;father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis "Shrimp" Froehlich and Evelyn (Eischeid) Froehlich-Davidson; sister, Patsy Rosenmeyer Morey and her husband Ralph; brother-in-law, Oscar Froehlich; and sister-in-law Ann Froehlich.
