In loving memory of

Charles Martin Turner
March 13, 1939 - September 10, 2020

It is with a broken heart and tear-filled eyes that we announce the passing of Charles "Chuck" Martin Turner, our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He was born in Perrysville, IN., the 2nd son and 4th child to the late Dana Herman Turner and Audrey Geneva Turner.

Master Sergeant Turner was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Ann Turner. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Margaret Ballard, Dean Turner and Russell L. Turner of Indiana, by his Uncle Robert Boswell of Pasadena, TX and by his stepson, Keith Conley of Valdosta, GA.

Chuck is survived by his children, Charlene Kaye Turner, Richard Lee Turner of Woodstock, GA., and Charles Michael Turner of Kyle, TX., by his granddaughter, Kaitlynn Ariel Turner of San Marcos, TX., by his stepson, Gary Conley of Valdosta, GA., by his grandsons, Cameron and Colby Conley of Valdosta, GA., and by his siblings, Helen Thomas, Thelma Roth and Bonnie Turner-O'Neill of Indianapolis, IN., as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a bomb technician. In 1961, he was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Ft. Worth, Texas. He fell in love with Texas and decided that he wanted to retire there. In 1972, he was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base- it was then that he decided to retire and make a home in Austin, TX. He established a farm there and spent many of his final years doing what he loved most- enjoying the Texas hill country with his family.

We will never forget the overwhelming warmth and kindness that Charles Martin Turner exuded and the light he brought to all of our lives. Please know that he was a HUGE Longhorn fan- a season ticket holder every year with his best friend, Danny Diaz of Austin, TX. Let us all send him to his glory with a big Hook 'Em Horns!

"Lot\'s of good memories! I\'m so blessed to have been able to be in contact with you & Mike before you left. I know how much you missed your wife. You both were always so kind to me and always in bright spirit happy to see or hear from me. You became so cheery. I love you both. May you rest peacefully... "

"Mr. Turner was one of the greatest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Whether cruising a 4 wheeler out on his property or going to a Longhorn basketball game, Mr. Turner always had time for the kid next door. My deepest condolences to the Turner family. We share your pain. Longhorn Nation lost a good one. Rest in Peace, Mr. Turner. "

"Charles was one of my favorite cousins. My dad (Robert Boswell), in his youth, spent a time living with Charles & his siblings. Dad loved Dana and Audrey (Audrey was my dad\'s oldest sister) as if they were his parents. Our little family moved to Texas. We would always stay with the Turners a few days when we returned to Indiana for a visit. I recall playing in the haybarn, looking for kittens, and more mischief than I care to reveal. I can\'t remember if Charles was with on this day - but this statement is made every year when we see the corn coming up in June. One of the boys ask Dana - \"Say Dad, do you think the corn will be knee high by the 4th of July? Dana said - Yup. . . if Yur laying down\". Fond memories . . just not enough of them. Charles was always my favorite. When he moved to Texas, I had an opportunity to visit with him as an adult. Dad sure did love Charles. I know he was at Heaven\'s Gate to welcome him home. "

I only got to visit with him on several occasions but I liked him from the moment I met him. Rest in Peace Mr. Turner. Your were a Great Father and A Great Man ! In Loving Memory, Rodney McDaniel."

"Mike, I am SO sorry to hear of your dad\'s passing. I have so many memories of time spent at your house in high school and beyond- your mom and dad were always welcoming and nurturing to us all. Your dad was a good man and his love for you was evident. You are very lucky to have had a dad like yours, and he will be in Heaven with your mama smiling down on you and watching over you and Kaitlynn for all of eternity. Love you, friend!"

"I met Chuck in the mid 80?s when my family and I moved into our first purchased home. He was my neighbor, quickly became my friend and then to me, my brother. We shared many good times, went thru some tough ones that made us stronger. We could always talk to each other about all things, he would listen, offer his advise and then we would sip on our cool refreshment and go on. I will truly miss those days. Longhorn sports was very prevalent in our lives as was our families. We lost one of ours, and for that I am truly sad. Love you brother Danny"
