MARY L. WARD
February 25, 1938 - September 8, 2020

Mary L. Ward, 82, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday evening, September 8, 2020 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.

Mary was born on February 25, 1938 in Marquette, a daughter of the late Leo and Loretta (Bureau) Robert. She was a 1956 graduate of Bishop Baraga High School and had attended Northern Michigan University.

Mary was previously employed at the Diocese of Marquette for approximately 16 years. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, but more importantly spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Donald R.L. Ward and Heather (Richard) Milliner, both of Ishpeming and Amy Ward of Palmer; five grandchildren, Phillip Turner, Alyssa Syrjala, Whitney Barry, Andrew Valenti and Alex (Krista) King; a great grandson, E.J. King; one brother, John D. Robert of Milwaukee, WI and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Don Ward on October 27, 2004; a sister, Jane Robert on July 28, 2016; also a sister-in-law, Sheila Robert.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 16th at 1:30 p.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory Heikkala officiating. Visitation will take place in the church beginning at 12 noon Wednesday until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Heather Milliner, John Robert, Jr., Alex King and Andrew Valenti.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
