On Thursday, September 3, 2020, Steven John Thesing passed into eternal life surrounded by his family. Steve was a life long resident of Lewiston. He was born October 10th, 1949 to Ted and Evelyn Thesing, the 8th of 10 sons. He attended schools in Lewiston, finishing his school career in 1969. He worked the family farm with his Dad until 1994 when he moved into Lewiston. He lived a number of years with his brother John (Linda), and for a short time, before his death, with his brother Phil (Jo).
Steve was a simple man who touched many people, always ready with a smile. He worked at Hubbard Turkey Processing, Amish Ovens, and a number of years, at ORC. He amassed many friends.
He was especially loved by his nieces and nephews. Steve enjoyed them all at any age. He was known for hiding their possessions, teasing them about monkeys, and treating them with sticks of gum. As a youngster, his Mom and Dad shared stories of his mischievous nature.
Steve loved to drive his car and enjoyed his trips through the countryside. He would report back to family and friends about conditions of crops and what farmers were busy doing.
Steve is survived by his 8 brothers and their families. Roger and Betty Thesing, Utica, Fr. Gilbert Thesing, OP, Lagos, Nigeria, Africa, Dick and Linda Thesing, Rochester, Fr. Ken Thesing, MM, Rome , Italy, Dan and Betsy Thesing, Windermere, Fla., Mike and Georgia Thesing, Osakis, MN., Phil and Jo Thesing, Lewiston, John and Linda Thesing, Minnesota City, and many nieces and nephews. Also special friends, Dave and Lori Beck, Winona.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother and sister in law, Don and Marlys, and special friend Gene Erickson.
Funeral services will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston, on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. Modified visitation will be 1 hour before services. Graveside services will follow in St Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery immediately following the mass. CDC guidelines for masks and social distancing will be followed.
Memorials will be directed to organizations for persons with special needs and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
