DeWayne A. Hovey
January 22, 1943 - September 3, 2020

DeWayne Hovey, 77, of Titonka, died Thursday at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. A private family service will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 1:30 PM at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Wesley. Inurnment will take place following at Evergreen Cemetery in Wesley with military honors conducted. The service will be live streamed for the public on Oakcrest Funeral Services' Facebook page.

DeWayne Albert Hovey was born January 22, 1943, in Havelock son of Harold and Edna (Johnson) Hovey. He grew up in Rolfe where he attended school and served his country in the United States Army being stationed in Germany. DeWayne was married to Helen Murra on February 19, 1966, at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo Center. After their marriage they lived in Algona where DeWayne worked at Snap-On until 1968. He then began working for the Kossuth County Maintenance Department retiring in 2006 after 36 years. Helen preceded him in death on November 10, 2007.

DeWayne loved being surrounded by his family especially his grandchildren. He was an active member of Grace Church in Algona and made many friends of faith there. He enjoyed camping and boating and visiting with people. DeWayne married Geneva A. (Barber) Hill on July 19, 2013, at Grace Church in Algona.

DeWayne A. Hovey died Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the age of 77.

He is survived by his wife Geneva Hill Hovey of Titonka; two sons, Jeff (Tammy) Hovey of Titonka, and Jerrod (Dawn) Hovey of Owatonna, MN; grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Hovey of Hanlontown, Alex (Brianna) Hovey of Titonka, Cady Hovey of Titonka, Kashayla (Jordan) Madson of Owatonna, MN, Devon (fiancé Kaitlin Fielding of Waseca, MN, and Kyla Hovey of Owatonna, MN; and great-grandchildren Blake and Loren Madson of Owatonna, MN, Maddox and Kaden Hovey of Hanlontown, and Ethan and Carter Hovey of Titonka. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Marlene (Dave) Haack of Bancroft, Darwin (Jo) Hovey of Waterloo, Karlene (Craig) Steenhard of Corwith, and Larry (Deb) Hovey of Garner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Helen; and a brother, Claire Hovey.
